Here is a selection of Photo's I have Taken of Craven and His Lamps over the years......

Who would have thought that his Original Idea of an EGGTIMER........
would have inspired him to Invent, Create and Produce millions of Astro and Glitter Lamps for us to enjoy?

Foto
Here he is in our home, Kota Kita with Sam, our dog... taking a tea break, from one of the many photo shoots I helped to set up for the various magazine and television articles he was asked to be in.
He first set eyes on a kind of ''lamp contraption'' -which had the look of an old fashioned witches lantern, and was crudely made out of a sort of old  cocktail shaker, when he took his family for a visit to the famous 'witches' village of Burley, www.burleynewforest.co.uk  in the New Forest and popped into the Queens Head pubwww.queens-head-pub-ringwood.co.uk  for a drink. Ever the interested enquiring mind, he asked where it came from, and found out that a man called Mr Dunnett had left it to be sold.

So Craven bought it, took it home and then spent many more hours than Mr Dunnett had, tinkering and playing around with the water/chemicals/wax/heat and different shaped bottles and tins to try to perfect the 'blobbing' effect  he had seen, to make it  even bigger and better.

He told me that one of the many 'in between' items he made was a sort of egg timer ... he had this one (pictured)

We always loved the Flock Lava Lamp ... I think that Cresida, the owner of Mathmos did too, they are quite special as I think they were a limited edition.... you'll have to check out the website.... www.mathmos.com

They do some fabulous lamps and are constantly adding new and innovative products.
